You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.
Psalm 32:7
In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, Lord,
make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8

Peaceful photo and the verse about sweet sleep is one that many who have trouble sleeping may claim for their needed rest.
You must be related to Hazel! Thanks for coming by.
Beautiful words for a weekend between two very busy weeks for me. I do hope it is a still Saturday for you too.
It is indeed a very quiet Saturday….
These are verses I’ve claimed many, many times. God is so, so good to us. May you rest in His peace.
He is good, so good indeed!
Hi! Thanks for visiting a fellow WI dweller!
I have a thing for walking bridges and meandering waters. They are so peace-inspiring! I grew up in Hugo, MN and we had a creek meandering through our pasture land. We lingered long and played often near and in it.
Have a blessed weekend! 🙂
I took this photo last summer in AL. Wish it WERE in my backyard!! 🙂
Peaceful..
Perfect..
Lovely…
Peace to you, friend…
I wore that verse out Thursday night after my daughter left for Haiti. Quoted it over and over…”I will lay me down in peace and sleep…You alone makes Emily to dwell in safety.” Such a peaceful picture, too.
Oh, friend. May you continue to find peaceful sleep (and peace in day time hours too)!
Anna, this is lovely! Such peace…I can almost feel it seeping right down into my soul. 🙂
Scripture… the green grass and streams… it’s all God’s word to us.
Mark Roberts talked about being surrounded today in The High Calling’s daily reflection. I need to ponder this idea some more. To be surrounded with songs of deliverance. What an image.
I was studying for tomorrow’s class in Isaiah 42, the “new song”. Thinking of the songs in scripture: Hannah after Samuel was conceived, Moses after the deliverance from Egypt, Marium, Deborah, Israel after winning battles, Mary after the news from Gabriel, and thinking of the significance of singing. I also noted from the concordance that songs were sung ‘for a witness’ Deut. 31:19
There is also the passage in Zech about God singing over us. Singing seems to be the welling up of overflow of emotion {heart-response} for thanksgiving, victory, delight, and simply being overwhelmed where words are not enough. The song comes from the deep…In light of that, the picture of God surrounding me with songs of deliverance is POWERFUL and HOLY!
Sandy, I agree… what an image. I, too, need to dwell on this a lot more. It’s the word “surrounded” that you’ve mentioned that makes me realize I’ve been visualizing being “sung over” instead of “surrounded”– but the verse clearly says “surrounded”. Thank you for sharing that. How many times do I gloss over scripture and miss something….
Kathy, thank you for sharing this, about songs… coming from the deep, an overflow. To be surrounded with God’s songs around us… it’s powerful and moving, comforting, holy… so much. Just wow-ing me tonight. And making for a beautiful Saturday and weekend. Thank you.
I want to take that quiet path and see where it leads me…:-) coming over from still saturday today!
Love these verses. 🙂
Great words, In peace I will lay down and sleep, only because of Him can I dwell in safety. Food for my soul today, thank you
