The very first Christian music I ever bought was Amy Grant’s. After nearly 20 years (has it really been that long?), she recently released a Christmas album. I have not listened to that one yet, and I heard that a major retailer decided not to carry her album because it wasn’t “Christian enough”. Whatever their decision, I’m a fan and still am. I own a couple of her old Christmas CD’s, and I love the music on them; despite being 20 years old, I still listen to them. Below is one of my favorite songs of hers:

The lyrics:

Are you far away from home
This dark and lonely night
Tell me what best would help
To ease your mind
Someone to give
Direction for this unfamiliar road
Or one who says, “Follow me and
I will lead you home”

How beautiful
How precious
The Savior of old
To love so
Completely
The loneliest soul
how gently
how tenderly
He says to one and all,
“Child you can follow Me
And I will lead you home
Trust Me and follow Me
And I will lead you home”

Be near me, Lord Jesus
I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever
And love me I pray
Bless all the dear children
In Thy tender care
And take us to Heaven
To live with Thee there
Take us to Heaven
To live with Thee there

Here is another song from that album:

The lyrics from “Welcome to our World”:

Tears are falling, hearts are breaking
How we need to hear from God
You’ve been promised, we’ve been waiting
Welcome Holy Child
Welcome Holy Child
Hope that you don’t mind our manger
How I wish we would have known
But long awaited Holy stranger
Make yourself at home
Please make yourself at home
Bring your peace into our violence
Bid our hungry souls be filled
World now breaking Heaven’s silence
Welcome to our world
Welcome to our world
Fragile finger sent to heal us
Tender brow prepared for thorn
Tiny heart whose blood will save us
Unto us is born
Unto us is born
So wrap our injured flesh around You
Breathe our air and walk our sod
Rob our sin and make us holy
Perfect Son of God
Welcome to our world
