Have you attended a writer’s conference? It is something I have wanted to do for several years. Finally, I gathered the gumption and funds to attend. I made a decision to pour some resources, time, and effort into my writing, and I’m so glad I did.

Last month, I attended the Breathe Writers conference in Grand Rapids, MI. It was the first writing conference I had ever attended. What would a writing conference be like? Would it be like sitting in a room full of introverts, each of us stuck in our own worlds, with our noses in our books? I had no clue what to expect, but it turned out nothing like that image of a room of introverts with their noses stuck in their own books, by the way! I didn’t know a soul, but then happily ran into one person I knew, and I returned with a few new writing friends.

Today, I am sharing a guest post at the Breathe Christian Writer’s Conference blog. Here is the beginning:

“It was my first time to attend any kind of writer’s conference. Would it be obvious to others I was a conference newbie, fresh out of the writing chair and immersed in the company of other writers? Would I bungle up my words and embarrass myself?”
