Ready to “fingerpaint with words”?
Joining today with Gypsy Mama’s “Five Minute Friday” writing prompt.Write for 5 minutes, unedited, and then stop.
Today’s topic is “Distance”.
GO
I’d go the distance with you, for you.
I’ll vouch for you. I’ll stand up for you. I’ll be your friend.
“Go the extra mile”– like the Master said. Will you let me go with you?
It’s no fun to walk the long distances alone. Walking together is much more fun, more rewarding.
He goes the extra distance for me. Each day. And Easter I celebrate that.
I live a far distance from many loved ones. You?
I live a near distance to those I don’t know as well. You?
I wish to cross those boundaries. You?
But among those that live a closer distance… I’m also getting closer in heart to those. You?
And for those wh0 live faraway, close hearts aren’t dependent upon distance, either.
The distances I want to cross are: closer hearts to people
Family friends neighbors strangers
And a closer heart to JesusYou?
I have one more minute to write
And I realize that in this world
Distances are getting “smaller”
Because of the internet.
I can cross over many miles and meet beautiful people
Like you, and you, and you
But it is no substitute for one-on-one chats in a coffee shop
or in a living room.
STOP
Great post! It’s amazing how many ways we can communicate with others in our technological age and yet, we’re communicating less than people did before this technology. And if we do, it’s at a shallow level. Imagine if we all went the distance to really know others!
Yes, it’s made some forms of “communication” easier, but not as a substitute for going the real, hard distance of knowing one another. Thanks for commenting, friend.
Thank you for stopping by and visiting today! It’s nice to meet others who have similar likes and interests. It’s also nice to meet someone who knows what a doula is! : )
Your 5-Minute post is very good!
My doula was a great help. Nice to find you! Hope to see you again next Friday. Blessings!
Great words! “It is no substitute for one-on-one chats in a coffee shop
or in a living room.” Too true, too true!
True… (but I still love blogging and writing!) Thanks for reading and commenting!
Love this! The form and the words are just right. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I look forward to reading your posts on Friday – hope to see you next Friday? The internet does close distances, doesn’t it?? Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for reading, Amy, yes I’m hoping to be here next Friday. ” See” you then!
Great stream of thoughts! I liked “It’s no fun to walk the long distances alone. Walking together is much more fun…” –God really did intend for us to sojourn here together.
I agree with you, Jennifer. (Hey- thought you might try the 5 min. thing?) Anyway– just read your amazing post. Commented on your site.
