Listen– it’s easy, she can handle it

Moving along quite splendidly

But it gets faster, bit by bit

 

And though they ought to quit

This redhead does not so gingerly

This comedy, a sweet gift

Like chocolate, stuffed greedily—

But it gets faster, bit by bit

 

Don’t leave a single chocolate tidbit—

Make us laugh quite heartily

Hairbrained scheme of side-splitting misfit

May start out quite idealistically –

But it gets faster, bit by bit

 

An amusing, zany culprit

Remembered most affectionately

Listen– it’s easy, she can handle it

But it gets faster, bit by bit

This piece was written in response to a poetry prompt at Tweetspeak.com,  about the famous Lucille Ball. The above form is called a “villanelle”, with lines 1 and 3 repeating in a particular manner, as well as an “aba abaa” rhyming scheme. A fun prompt and write. 🙂
