Presence
Like snowflakes that softly fall,
so is my love for you,
landing gently around you,
enveloping you like a cloud,
a covering of white.
You will feel me, not as a coldness,
as the real snow of a real winter,
or like the breath of this world,
with its chilled words, frosty lies
but as a fire surging from your bones.
I am radiant; my light pierces darkness,
diffuses through obscurity of fog-filled nights.
I fill the air with myself, my brilliance;
I thaw you into being, into belonging,
I form you from words, my words.
I keep your heart beating,
I hold it in my hands
I am the keeper of your soul
I shield you from icy winds
This life will not bury you.
Hold fast onto me
I will not leave nor forsake you
I have good plans for you
I have made a way through the darkness
The fog does not conceal you from me
Call to me and I will answer you
I read your heart and know
I have heard you calling
Just as I have heard the cries from all generations
So also I hear you.

Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:24
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deut. 31:6
