I’m thrilled and honored to announce that I recently signed a contract to write my first book! I began writing online in 2009; but I was writing, of course, long before then. Writing has been part of my life since I was a child. I’ve always wanted to write a book, but I didn’t know when or what the subject matter would be. I’ve written short stories and poetry–but as it turns out, this is going to be a nonfiction book, and the topic is ethnic loneliness. The photo above is me signing the contract.

I didn’t know I’d write about this topic, especially publicly, but you you know what–that’s sometimes how writing is. Joan Didion wrote, “I write to know what I think,” and this is part of the mystery of writing. We don’t always know what will result from our scribblings. We may have an idea, and that idea may lead to something else, and so on. It is a formative process, and we learn as we go. So this topic, although in a sense I’ve been writing and preparing for this topic all of my life, I didn’t actually name it and have this particular idea take shape as a potential writing project until the past 2-3 years.

I’m deeply grateful to InterVarsity Press for believing in me and this project. I’m working hard and excited to see this project take shape. It’s a dream come true.

I’ll be sharing regular updates on the writing life and the process of writing this book with my email subscribers. Having you read my (free) email newsletters is a way you can support my writing. (And then, of course, buying the book when it is released in 2024!) But in the meantime, I’ll be sharing updates with my email community. If you’d like to join , please click here. (Your email is only used for me to communicate with you.)

Thank you for reading my blog, for being here, and supporting me and my writing. It means more than you know. Stay tuned for more!!
