In a matter of moments, the landscape can change. In a matter of moments, a life can change.

Snow-Fall
*
A single snowflake floats weightless
Millions of flakes falling, land heavy
Bring a roof crashing down
*
Branches bend, dip underneath
Weight of snow, crack and break,
Descend on cold hard ground
*
In stillness of night, do you hear
An echo piercing the silence, do you
seek source of thunderous bereft sound
*
Sorrows sing loud when snows silently
Sink; watch your step—broken pieces
Lie scattered about the ground
*
Let regrets no longer be bound
Seek while love may yet be found
Seek the source of thunderous sound
*

This is a poem I wrote a few years ago, and tweaked a little.
